“The sole purpose of a golf swing is to produce a correct, repetitive impact. The method employed is of no significance as long as it is repetitive.”
~ John Jacobs

I have been influenced by two primary instructors, Jim Hardy and Mike Adams. I believe as a teacher I have to work with the student in front of me and help them to accomplish their goals and work with what they have. I don’t believe players have to get worse before they get better. If the information is correct for the player we should see an improvement in ball flight immediately.

The purpose in swinging a golf club cannot be summed up more succinctly than by Sir John Jacobs.I but one of the forefathers of modern golf instruction. This quote is the motto that The Plane Truth and it’s founder and my mentor, Jim Hardy has adopted since its inception in 2005. Jim’s true genius was born out of that motto and is his contribution to the golf instruction community. It is the foundation upon which Jim built his groundbreaking Plane Truth +’s and –‘s Impact System. I use this system to improve a golfer’s impact and ball flight no matter the swing style or method they employ. When a swing is not producing a correct and repetitive impact, the impact is either too steep (+) or too shallow (-). A swing element from the opposite category is then introduced to help balance the scale and move the golfer to a neutral impact. My goal is to improve a student’s impact and ball flight as quickly as possible. This is reflected in our motto, “Hit The Next Ball Better”.

By observing the players swing, impact conditions and ball flight I assess whether the impact is too steep or too shallow and if the swing matches the impact. By understanding how every factor in the swing contributes to making impact steeper or more shallow I am able to improve a players ball flight instantly by choosing the correct item to change. This process expedites the improvement for the student without having to tear apart their swing. I also utilize the Plane Truth Matrix which is a data base of every fault and fix in the golf swing. I am able to create a player profile with the prescribed fault and fix complete with videos explaining the students ball flight miss and recommendations for the fix complete with drills for practice. The student then has this information as a follow up tool to keep us both on the correct tract for their improvement.

I also believe that how your body is structured helps to dictate how you swing the golf club. I have learned so much from Mike Adams and his Bio Swing Dynamics system that bridges the gap between teaching, coaching and science. It allows me to take the guesswork out of determining how a golfer should swing optimally. It allows me to bring efficiency of motion in an injury free environment to the students’ golf swing.

Through a series of screens from Bio Swing Dynamics I can customize your set up and swing specifically for your body type, mobility and physiology. By 6 specific screens we can determine the blueprint for your success. Not everyone is built the same which is why no two swings are the same. These screens will customize your set up , delivery and release of the golf club. It will determine the following:

  1.  Your dominant power source
  2.  Your Natural Swing Track on backswing and down swing (shoulder, torso (right arm) or hip (shaft) Plane
  3.  Your lower body action and whether your pivot is a front post, center post or rear post. This will allow your lower body to work efficientlyand powerfully.
  4.  Your Natural hip speed (fast, medium or slow)
  5.  Your Ultimate Swing Type (one plane or two plane)
  6.  Your optimal set up procedure (grip, posture, stance (width, foot flare, and orientation), ball position, aim and alignment
  7.  Natural Tempo, and Swing Speed
  8.  Optimal Ball Flight, Shape and Trajectory
  9.  Your natural right arm action (on top, side on, under)

2 Sets Of Fundamentals

Jim Hardy has taught me that in golf there really are 2 sets of fundamentals. First depending on whether you swing the club in more an up and down motion as your body turns, we call that 2 Plane or if you see golf more as a rotary motion where the arms swing around your body as your body turns on a steeper angle, we call that 1 Plane.

Which Is The Best Release For You?
LOP OR RIT?

Find out which one and Hit The Next Ball Better!

Many of our readers of The Release book have asked us for swing example videos. We have listened. In this video, we have included a number of LOP and RIT examples from PGA TOUR players explaining the key points. Among those analysed are Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson, and Justin Thomas.
